Food safety, religious slaughter
and animal welfare

Dr Anil is a former Senior Research Fellow of the Veterinary School, University of Bristol, UK. He is a consultant scientist for several organizations including Cardiff University, EBLEX and RSPCA, UK, and is Professor of Physiology, Turkey. He was a research leader for projects funded by the UK Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Food Standards Agency and European Commission from 1988. His research interests include farm animal physiology and animal welfare, with particular reference to stunning and slaughter and food safety.

He was the coordinator of DIALREL project on religious slaughter funded by EU Commission until 2008 and later consultant. He is a Training Tutor for BTSF /DG-SANCO.
